Really? Wow! I appreciate that the January window has inflated fees but £7m is ridiculous! Also weren't Bournemouth guilty of breaking FFP rules? Revenue from their stadium can't be much and they've barely been on to this season so where are they getting the £20m they've spent in the last 24hrs on 2 strikers?

£17 mill on him and Afobe. Not even worth half that amount.

You'd have to think Murray is now surplus to requirements given they signed Iturbe on top of those two. Yes, the money is insane but impressive how they've managed to bring their three main targets within the first few days of the window.

Doesn't each team get 129 million from TV money next year? Well, Bournemouth are off to a reasonable start and have every chance of staying up. 20 million isn't a lot to gamble when the prize is six times that sum and you're already halfway to securing it.

It is impressive but if you pay what a lot of people may think is over the odds then that makes it easier. It's about getting the balance right and maybe for the sake of a couple of million it's worth having those players early so that they can play. Very much a high stakes season. Plus Eddie Howe seems to know what he's doing!!!

An interesting way of looking at it is this. We have three Premier League games and two FA Cup games in January. If we'd signed a top striker the day window opened for, say, 2 million more than he was worth (to tie up the deal quickly) it might be reasonable to assume that we'd get three extra points from those games (of course that's conjecture, but to make my point I have to do something) not to mention possibly another round in the Cup. Are those points worth .6 million each? Well, if at the end of the season they result in us finish two places higher in the table then we're in profit. Not starting an argument or anything. Just trying to give a framework for evaluating the sense in doing what Bournemouth have done. I think it probably is worth spending a little more to do your business earlier in the window. Others may disagree.

Grabban is a no brainer for me, the other two more risky but it's minimal when you look at the rewards.

Bournemouth sold Grabban to Norwich for £3 Mill and have brought him back in a £7 Mill deal. I know someone involved in transfer activity at Bournemouth but he doesn't give anything away ! All he said to me the other day was that he was on his way to see an agent but didn't divulge any name ! And I've known him for over 30 years !

Looking at his stats and judging Grabban and Afobe on their recent form I cannot see a lot of goals coming from those 3. Good to do business early but if these are the only type of strikers available I would rather bide our time and get somebody with a better potential of finding the net, which is clearly what we need. But managers will make their own judgments and back them. You and I might be unimpressed by Grabban and Afobe but Howe clearly isn't and he'll have his reasons for thinking that way. It's not like Norwich or Wolves are tearing up their Leagues or creating a lot of chances on top of which both players have been unhappy and unhappiness rarely sees a player find top form. Howe may feel that in an attacking, creative side with a manager who believes in them, they have goals in them. And he's had Grabban before so he should know. This isn't really about whether you and I think Bournemouth have signed good strikers; time will tell about that. It's about whichever striker you target arriving as early as possible.
