why do so many seagulls live in South croydon and all wake up between 4 and 5 am ? I wish they would move back to Brighton.

I live on the coast. These birds are a bloody nuisance with their squawking, swooping etc. Recently babies were born in a nest on top of the roof of the house opposite - after a few weeks they made their way down to ground level and were protected by their parents as they swooped low down on people, a cat, a fox as they thought their offspring were in danger. One day I looked out of the window in the morning to find one of the young ones had come to grief, feathers everywhere and the other was nowhere to be seen.Must have been attacked and killed in the night probably by the cat next door.All nice and quiet around here now !
