Apparently to put pressure on Jules? Would defo mean Hennessey would be leaving then.

Crazy - Hennessey is more than capable of being our number one keeper now.

I think it would be a mistake to let Hennessey go without having been given a decent run in the team but if this is true then clearly Pardew doesn't rate him.

If true I would guess we have an offer for Hennessey that exceeds what we think he's worth (in other words, one too good to turn down) and Pards thinks McCarthy is a better long term option. I don't agree, but that would have to be the logic.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |

I can't see that anybody who is a number 2 to Rob Green is up to much. Hennessey looked more than capable at international level.

The only possible explanation for WBA possibly getting Hennessey is that Pardew can't guarantee that he would be first choice - i.e. he is probably going to stick with Speroni, despite his mistakes last season and the lack of clean sheets in his last 13 games, and the fact that he's 36. As opposed to a keeper who has been excellent for his country and let in just 1 goal in the two games he played at the end of last season. Sorry Pardew if that's the case as my opinion of you will drop several levels.

So its going to be a 36 year old v McCarthy by the sound of it!

I can see supporters reading such reports and thinking that if an ageing an error prone Speroni needed to be dropped, we would have to turn to an inexperienced McCarthy !

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

this one has legs apparently (useful for any football player) as my mate knows his girlfriend and said Alex had had a meeting with Parish last week. Obviously a meeting doesn't make anything concrete but it seemed to be a positive one! Must say I thought the current two were competition enough.
