With the help of a friend I have recently been investigating my family history. It is very complicated, what with adoptions, many divorces and remarriages, siblings, half siblings and step siblings.

I have been looking for a family tree programme for the computer to put it all on but there are so many I was wondering if the wonderful folk on here have ever used one and, if so, what would they recommend. It seems that most of the 'free' ones are'nt really free so I don't mind paying £20/£30 for a good one.

At least it makes a change from waiting for even more bizarre transfer rumours to reach Ross McCormack levels!!!

I also use Ancestory.com and can confirm it is good and fairly simple to use . I pay monthly and you can leave and rejoin as you want. I have built up my family tree from almost nothing to now include several hundred names. However a word of caution - it easy to get carried away and mislead and end up with children older than their apparent parents!

The less I know about my f*cking family, the happier I am.

Best I've turned up so far is a GGG aunt sentenced to death at the Old Bailey -for involvement in a mugging - later changed to transportation to Australia. Those were the days!
