How do you manage to end up with "life-threatening injuries" when two slow moving vehicles crash on a single lane road? Doesn't mention any pedestrians either.

Just outside where I work. They only opened the road again about an hour ago. I don't think there were any emergency services left in Sussex they were all down North Street.

Does seem a bit odd, although as anyone knows who has shunted their car,even travelling at a modest pace, it does gives you quite a jolt. A few years ago, also in Brighton, the bus I was on hit a drunken Scotsman who had stepped out in front of the vehicle. The driver slammed his brakes on and I ended up on the floor in the gangway having been sitting in the middle if the back seat. We weren't travelling that fast. Incidentally, the impact of Scotsman hitting bus actually cracked the windscreen. Our Scottish friend then picked himself up, climbed aboard the bus, and announced his apologies to the passengers for the inconvenience caused to the delay in their journey. Given the mass of the bus, the speed isn't that significant a factor (although being hit by a bus doing 20-30mph is going to splatter someone). Physics or something.
