All the best to him, either way. Sometimes its not necessarily better to survive a severe stroke. Friend of the family had one, and he spent the next three or four years wishing he hadn't.

My wife's father suffered a major stroke in his late 50s and the effect was devastating. Remained in care for few years before dying of pancreatic cancer. All very distressing and my thoughts go out to Greaves and his family at this time.

Strange how there are different levels of strokes, my uncle had one and apart from a slight limp he is fine although he now lays of the booze

Very sad to hear this ...he's one of the old school and always been a genuine character. I wish him well.

He was advised to refrain from smoking after the first stroke but took no notice at all.

Doesn't sound too good for Jim. I am fortunate enough ( or unfortunate depending on how you look at it)to be old enough to have seen him play a few times. Mainly for Spurs but also once for West Ham. Watch out for the third goal for Spurs

Sorry to hear about Jimmy Greaves a football great, first came to prominence in the the young Chelsea team and scored some incredible goals. He also suffered when one of his children died from a cot death. All the best--keep fighting.
