I came across this on the Grauniad website Seems the former Bradford chairman was linked to at least eight fires before Valley Parade disaster. Which is a coincidence. A New York fire officer is quoted in the piece: ‘It’s rare to have a coincidence. If we start having multiple coincidences then it’s not a coincidence.

Another very sad day in the annals of foobtall history. I remember watching it on TV. The TV company didn't know whether to show it or not as they had never had anything like it happen before. Edited by Dweeb (15 Apr 2015 6.58pm)

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think. |

Feel pretty certain is wasn't started deliberately as the rubbish underneath the stands was well known about and a dropped fag butt seems reasonable. Also, the chairman dodgy or not didn't come across as insincere or hiding something in the aftermath. Methinks someone wants to sell some sensational book. He'll be on Graham Norton next.

Wasn't the stand due to be knocked down after that game anyway? Nice to see that there will be a minute's silence at games on 25th April to mark the anniversary even though this has taken 30 years and yet Hillsborough has been marked most years in some way Just a shame that other disasters such as Bolton and Ibrox are never marked in the same way as well

Why do the scousers whine on so much about Hillsborough yet Bradford hold a quiet dignity about it, only ever gets mentioned as they anniversary approaches and marked with a simple service of memory? I recall watching both horrors unfold on TV yet its the Bradford one that sticks in my mind by far.

Being linked to 8 fires is very suspicious. Of course back then record keeping wasn't as 'joined up' as in the modern age and forensic methodology was really in its infancy. If I remember rightly the cause of the fire wasn't actually established with any certainity.

That's a bit harsh.
