Hi all - firstly, we think Palace is an excellent Club, very welcoming and its our favourite away trip in London. Just a quick one to explain why Mr Pardew wasnt liked up here - we dont expect to win anything, never have, poor Pardew had an impossible job under our owner but we didnt like; Alan Pardew was the first Newcastle United manager to lose 6 consecutive Premier League games in over 100 years. In the 2013-14 season, Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United lost 4 home games in a row without scoring a goal – the first time in the club’s entire history that this has happened. In the 2012-13 season, Newcastle under Alan Pardew lost their final 3 home games, the only time in the club’s history that they have done so. Alan Pardew has failed to win 114 out of the 186 games he has been manager at Newcastle United. No Premier League club suffered more home defeats in 2012-13 than NUFC under Alan Pardew. The 0-6 home loss to Liverpool was the biggest home defeat since 9th Sep 1925 (vs Blackburn). In 2014 Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United have failed to score in 18 out of 38 Premier League matches (47,4%). Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United went 102 games without scoring from a corner. Alan Pardew has lost 4 out of 5 FA Cup games as Newcastle United manager. Of the 4 eliminations, 3 were against lower league opposition. Alan Pardew has conceded more goals against Sunderland as manager of Newcastle United than Keegan, Dalglish, Souness, Roeder, Allardyce, Kinnear and Hughton combined (12 vs 11). Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United have conceded 9 goals to Sunderland (think Millwall with an even shallower gene pool) in their last 4 encounters. Alan Pardew has managed Newcastle United to its first series of four consecutive derby losses vs Sunderland ever. Alan Pardew has lost more Tyne-Wear derbies than the previous 22 Newcastle United managers combined. Im sure he will do better there under a much better owner, best of luck to Palace.

Do stats like that really matter when looking at the bigger picture? He has stabilised Newcastle in the premier league even getting them as high as a 5th place finish. Newcastle haven't been too long back in the prem and I think he did a good job in the circumstances

If Jose Mourinho was the manager you'd still win fook all! Way too much expectation from the Geordie faithful Never had a problem with the fans of Newcastle but calm it down a bit and accept your are one of the also rans in the premier league and so are everyone else apart from 4 others who are in a league of their own.

Bigger fan base than all but 2 teams in England Barcelona based fan - we dont expect to win anything but good football would be nice - he had his hands tied big style up here but he was also technically rubbish, tactics were hand bitingly bad....anyway... imagine how we feel - our owner is such a w***er we are waiting to see if Jo Kinnear or Gazza and Jimmy 5 bellies is replacing him! Stats can be made to show anything, I expect someone could pick out positive trends (finishing 5th isn't too bad!) All interesting points and in the main you have a right to feel he wasn't a right fit for you. The last bit I highlighted though I think (hope) could very well be the key for both our clubs. In other words, if your owner fails to change his policy on the way Newcastle is structured, mainly in terms of the manager having more of a say and more money being invested rather than taken out of the club (top players being scouted, found and bought for a very good price only to be sold at a massive profit but replaced with inferior ones) you will have the same old things to feel aggrieved about with the next manager, the one after that and the one after that too.

OK OK enough of the grudge stats Stevie Coppell lost 0-9 to Liverpool and 0-5 at home to Wimbledon, yet we still rate him as a manager At least Pardew got you a 5th place in the league, although had he done a Keegan and thrown away a huge lead in the table to give Man U the title heavens knows what you would have done to him, or relegated you like Shearer did (although tbf that was a lost cause!) Mind you losing that many games to Sunderland.... probably the last straw I guess Maybe he will be a good fit at Palace?

Great points est1905 - fully agree. No manager could have done much better - we see the rubbish served up weekly. I think he will do well there and no manager worth his salt will come to Newcastle where you are guaranteed any player who shines is sold at the first opportunity. You have to worry about a bloke who preferred Mullins over Mascherano, and Harewood over Tevez though.
