Watch it. Me and many other fans, mainly students, turned up at the behest of Mr Waite to help complete this 'improvement of the old place. If Waite had stayed Selhurst would never had been sold off at one end to Siansbury and the ground would have either been upgraded to a super arena or moved to a bigger site. As it was before the 'Thatcher' doctrinal guides it would have later had to be up-graded further.

A couple of photos showing games in action while the Arthur Wait stand was being built. Firstly.... 15th Feb 69 - reserve game between Palace & Norwich. In fact both teams turned out near first teams as bad weather had ruled out a few first team games in Jan & early Feb. This photo shows Mel Blyth jumping and Tony Taylor & Bobby Woodruff nearby. Zaha, Williams, Murray, Ambrose, Scannell. A 5-man forward line who scored 3 goals in 10 minutes on 27th September 2011 at ....................... |

Second photo.... 22nd Feb 69. Palace v Hull. Visiting keeper Ian McKechnie clears as Tony Taylor stands poised for action. Hard to imagine that nowadays a full crowd would be allowed to stand underneath a half-built stand. Edited by PalacePhotoMan (17 Jul 2014 5.15pm) Attachment: CP v Hull 22.2.69.jpg (86.54Kb)

Although I was a regular at Selhurst when the Arthur was being built I can't remember if at any stage that side of the ground was completely closed to spectators. Can anyone enlighten me on that one?
