My thoughts for a new Selhurst Park upgrade. I would like to see it based on the glass Crystal Palace if that is possible. Not the whole ground mind you, maybe just a new frontage, and seating to accommodate 40k: so we have 26k, just an additional 13k. Just my thoughts. The crystal palace that burnt down is iconic worldwide and would be a great shape for CPFC's brand.

It'll cost a bit extra to have a facade like that but it makes complete sense with the team's identity. More so than Craven Cottage's architectural frills. Incorporating a bit of the glass structure would strengthen Palace's connection with our roots and the community. I hope it's considered.

Frills cost money but a very nice idea if we consolidate our stay in the PL and have a bit of cash to splash. However, I really would like to see us move to a state of the art stadium below the rebuilt Crystal Palace in due course.

Any unique identity helps to sell the club. It's branding that can be used to attract business and not the tired old ripping off the faithful that seems to happen at all clubs.

I kinda like these thoughts. It has been said before on an old thread during the season.

I think whatever happens with us ground wise, it'd be good to have an instantly recognisable stadium. There are clubs that crow about their fantastic new grounds who essentially play in a giant, soulless metal lady part. Let's not build any big metal genitalia to play in.

This was always my dream too. I would imagine this would breeze through planning [assuming the club make the usual statutory bungs to improve the local area]. The only issue is obviously cost; and the fact that the other 3 ends would have to be built to match the facade which would further jack up the cost.

I suspect it could be incorporated by way of architect's "impression" of the old Crystal Palace but in a modern ground format. Assuming that impression isn't so subtle it is invisible in a pre-fabricated, standard, one size fits all plastic bowl I for one would be content.

This is a bit dated now and by no means perfect, but a 'Crystal Palace' take on the front end of Villa Park could look pretty good?

This.

A good architect would be needed though.

Wouldn't want the stadium to look tacky as result of trying to give heritage a nod.

These were my thoughts when the design of the new stadium were shown a few years ago. I like the new 'doughnut stadium' but a retro façade of the original Crystal Palace incorporated into the new design was a priority as it would instantly distinguish the ground from many similar 'doughnuts'.
And in the overall scheme of things it would add little in the way of structural changes or budget.

I'm still baffled why it was ever overlooked.

Or how about something like this as a façade for a new main stand?
