Really sorry for Jules, but as long as he stays here and perform up to his standard I'm happy. And I don't think Pulis will be shipping him out, he knows that Speroni is up to it as a PL keeper, and the affection he holds among the fans. A huge mistake by the manager if he lets him leave.

Read a while back it's to do with him not playing enough youth football in Argentina or something like that. It's a policy that their FA adhere to. Not sure if this is true however because Messi played his youth football in Spain.

Just seen he's not been picked for the world cup, the three are; Romero, Andujar, Orion Very harsh what's a guy got to do to get noticed? It's been said before, but it bears repeating - those three guys must be ****ing sensational if they're keeping Speroni out of contention. A Telegraph article from two months ago reported the concerns in Argentina about Romero and Andujar's form and lack of recent gametime. Both are currently on loan (at Monaco and Catania respectively) and while they both seem to have had purple patches of good form some years ago, neither of them have been pulling any trees up recently.

It's a shame for Jules but if Argentina have a worse keeper than him for the WC then, as an England fan, I'm not desperately unhappy.

Cant remember where I read it(y/day), but, apparently the Argentine FA have a policy that at least 1 player in the 4 main areas of the squad HAVE to ply their trade inside & for an Argentine club.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I do remember reading somewhere that those who play outside Argentina are often forgotten/excluded from the national team in favour of those who ply their trade closer to home. I know that someone will probably respond with a list of Argies who play outside of the country and are in the national team but I can't be bothered to fact check it myself.

Also Jules is a naturalised citizen of the United Kingdom, which could cause some disdain in certain parts of the world that are in spitting distance of the Falklands. Could have gone as an England keeper, as he's technically eligible.
