According to the Daily Fail today.

Assuming that is four or five players and adding on three year contract salaries then that £30mill is actually gonna be edging toward £45-50mill.

The question is should we as a club that so nearly died invest so much money? Where will it lead, etc?

I'll say it again - £50 million pounds.

Sounds like the 1st ingredients of a nice big sh1t stir. There's no way Parish will agree to it and TP knows it already.

1) It's the Daily Mail.

2) IF the budget allows for £30 million for the playing staff, I wouldn't be surprised if that also includes additional wages and what not.

3) Do you think, for one second, that SP and the rest of the board are going to jeopardize all the hard work we've achieved so far? Listen to that interview he did very recently with Palace Radio (the links in the thread regarding Speroni's contract); does that sound like a man that is going to take such risks?

Whatever our budget allows this summer, I would feel pretty comfortable because I don't think for one second CPFC2010 would jeopardize the financial longevity of the club. SP has however, states that they will try and give TP as much as they can.

Either Pulis has been blabbing his mouth off in the pub about his tarnsfer kitty request, or the Mail has thought 'Mid-table Palace, exceeding expectations, Pulis' reputation on a high, so lets make-up a figure and run a story'.

All good points. However, we now have something like £150million guaranteed over the next four seasons no matter even if we get relegated so maybe the £50million i mention isn't such a big deal?...

Only a question CPFC2010 can answer. Knowing how on the ball they are regarding finances - if we can they will, if we can't they won't.

The consideration is the running costs and wage costs if you get relegated. Suddenly you become cash poor and your £60mil tv revenue plus £900k for ever league position up from bottom becomes about £15mil ish parachute money. Well what was the same quotes for an average wage bill of 35k/week? Something like £35 million? We aren't there yet, but it won't take long. £35k/week is nothing these days. So wages will eat I to that £250 million nicely.

Then SP mentioned that they are looking at doing work around the ground: Pitch is being dug up, better drainage, under-soil heating (£1 million), the AW, home and away, is being looked at to improve facilities, the "media centre" is getting completed/done properly, the cables hanging everywhere are being dig into the ground, round the edge of the pitch is being redone once the work on/under the pitch is done, more advertising boards, some tarting up of some of the bars, and other stuff that he wasn't at liberty to mention.

And those are just small improvements in the scale of things. He also said they have a healthy dialogue with Sainbury's and that the Whitehorse will probably be the first to be improved. So wheels are turning!

Then there's the standard operating costs we incur anyway; so I know £250 million sounds nice, but I'm not getting carried away.

We should have faith though, that what TP is given is what the club can afford.

I dunno. There may be some substance to it.

Tony did invest in players quite heavily at Stoke to assure their Prem status so there is no reason to think he would do things differently now. Plus, whether some like it or not, Dwight incl. salary over four years is a £10mill investment or cost depending on which way you view the player.

So even Steve Parish can spend with the best of them.

Personally, I think as long as the books balance five years hence taking into account the variables then TP should be given the money.

I think screwed up clubs like Bolton and Portsmouth got a loss less money in The Prem than we are getting now.

Are parachute payments really that low?

edit: ok - yes they are. Just found out. £60mill over four seasons.

Ok so worst case scenario - £60mill plus next seasons prize money of minimum £65mill plus Champ money and other revenue over the four years.

So around £150mill guaranteed.

Ok suddenly the £30mill feels much more significant.

I would have thought the salaries and fees etc would be included in the £30m budget.

Either way, don't panic.

I know it's fun to speculate but I reckon most of us have no idea what the exact figures are (in, or out) so can't really make an educated judgement.

We'll just have to trust in our guys at the top, and I for one, do.
