37 points was enough to survive in 8 of the last 10 premier league seasons, according to tailor's dummy Rednapp on Sky. Given how crappy some of the teams down at the bottom of the table have been this year, i expect its already enough. Do you honestly think any of the bottom 4 can morph themselves into Bayern Munich ?

I would refer the honourable gentleman to the season of 1992-93. Palace finished level with Oldham Athletic on 49 points, but were relegated on goal difference after Oldham improbably won their last three games including away at runners-up Aston Villa, the day after Palace had beaten Ipswich Town and seemingly secured safety. Somewhat prematurely, and a little embarrassingly, the team actually did a lap of honour after this game to celebrate staying up.
And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways |

Im sure it's enough. When you look at the fixtures of the teams below us they still have to play each other. With 8 teams below us it's extremely unlikely that 6 teams will over take us to put us in the bottom 3. I won't celebrate until it is confirmed though.

While it's still mathematically possible to be relegated the default emotion for Palace fans should be anxiety - bitter experience should have taught us that nothing is ever easy with Palace. Having said that, to go down from our current position would be the cruellest relegation of all - worse than '93 - and the odds are massively in our favour this time as there are several clubs who have to overtake us - not just one as in '93. I'd love us to progress to mid-table mediocrity over the next few seasons, rebuild the ground and build up a bigger fan base. Till that actually happens I shall be trying to keep the lid on my own anxiety!

After Saturday I really do think we've done enough, the other results have made it very interesting still but i can't see it not being enough now. I still think we can get a few points yet anyway. To go down now would be devastating and extremely unlucky. We deserve to stay up and it's been a long time coming. But we are Palace and we have had so many ups and downs over the years, we should know by now to wait until it's a certainty before we celebrate!

Posted this in another thread To become maths safe, if we assume we get no more points then If Cardiff drop 3 points from their remaining games we are safe from them overtaking us, Norwich, Villa, WBA, Hull and Swansea are a lot more vulnerable than we are There is a bit of a myth with this 'botton v bottom' action The only games from now until the end of season that are real relegation six pointers are WHU v PALACE The rest see us all play top six (title or eurpoa chasers or mid table teams (Newcastle, Saints, Stoke) Interesting thing as they are dropping like s atone is that Villa had better start winning or they could be in the shyte big time Edited by The Sash (14 Apr 2014 12.37pm)

I'm still worried. Been looking at Fulhams fixtures and they seem winnable, most of them anyway. Cardiffs seem harder but until it's concrete I still worry about 92 season. This is Palace after all. Norwich I think are doomed, but footballs a funny old game
