I'd be interested to hear what people think... from my seat in Block C of the LH it was ear-splitting at times - couldnt even hear my mate next to me. Cant think of when the last time that happened was - possibly 1989 play off final against Blackburn ?

I could see the whole ground join in at times and we pretty much completely silenced Chelsea, who I know from watching them at Fulham have a decent away support.

It was also pretty constant - not always so deafening but a lot more people a lot more of the time.

Yet it didnt seem so on MOTD - although I suspect that their microphones are placed nowhere near the Holmesdale, which whether it is down to them or the club, really needs to be addressed !

Thoughts ?

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely

I was halfway up the Arthur, pretty much on the halfway line. Took my girlfriends 14 year old Chelsea supporting son and he said he'd never heard an atmoshpere like it. Selhurst was rockin' !!

the microphones always seem to overemphasise the away support on all of the games covered but saturday was certainly the loudest its been for a while now and certainly the most consistent.

Chelsea were making plenty of noise at the start but the best thing is how they just dropped and fell away, no singing , no waving arms, nothing. Even though the 2nd half was largely spent being played out in front of them.

A mate of mine lives the other side of Grange Park and said we were much louder than normal as well.

I beleive someone said the mics are on Arthur Wait before - hence why away always sounds better on TV

They also definitely knock the noise down on the microphones when it gets loud to adjust so that the commentator can always be heard. It's not as noticeable when watching highlights, but it's pretty regular when watching other Premier League games when they go from pin drop silence to 70,000 cheering and back to silence.

Very loud. At times the place was rocking. And, at the final whistle, almost deafening.

Interesting question Finch, I've been a member on here as long as you and was racking my pea sized brain and could only come up with when the 5th went in against Brightscum and the AJ hatrick game.

More to the point, I was sitting right in very the top corner of the Arfur next to the Holmsdale on Sat and could not believe how many "Day Trippers" were there.

Around me and my very big mouth were Swedes Dutch and a couple of Frogs nice enough people. I was getting some strange looks as I was singing along. It did make me think how much louder it could have been if these seats had been sold to genuine Palace fans?

You are right though, absolutly fantastic to see the ground rocking like that on all sides of the stadium.
