Swansea nick a point at Arsenal with a last-minute own goal. We are cheated at Newcastle when they score in time added on to added time.

Swansea's equalizer was on 90 - they then went on to nearly win it but Probert blew as they were attacking - luckily for us. To an extent you make your own luck - when was the last time we drew or won a game with a last-minute goal?

You make your own luck. You can't force an own goal in your own half.

Arteta's sending off at Selhurst park, never the last man, or a goal scoring opportunity. Gabbidon's openning goal against Sunderland. Total luckshot. Tom Inces goal, total fluke of a through ball from a foul on Bolaise.

In fact Swansea were also foiled by the clock. They were on the break with a Swansea player on his own bearing down on the Arsenal goal when the ref blew! That could be lucky for Palace. There seems to be no hard rule on when the whistle is blown. Sometimes in full play, often as the ball crosses the half-way line from a clearance. Once in a World Cup game ( can't remember which one), the ref ended the game just as a player was just about to head in from a corner! All the ref said was ' time was up'. Whereas TP seems to think it's when a passage of play comes to an end ALA rugby. I hope it stays this way to prevent football becoming too regulated and starchy. I remember mid-90’s, the final whistle blowing as an Andy Roberts, volley flew into the Portsmouth net – would’ve made it 1-0 Palace I think.
