Ofcourse it hurt in the past and like Bright says in this interview, when a big club like Spurs come calling in, everyone would do the same.

It does seem like he has some good advisors with him now, playing in Belgium to start up again and focus on technical football and he seems more mature.

Would take him back in a heartbeat. Life is too short to hold grudges. Forgive and forget.

Hope Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink teaches him well. Such a great talent and still young. England International still on the cards with his quality technical ability and would be great to see him in a Palace shirt again one day.

Great to hear he still looks out for Palace results as well. Good interview

I tell who I would like at Palace one day - JF Hasselbaink as our manager. He comes across really well and his pedigree is faultless.

Are you joking!!! I would NEVER take him back as he left Palace for money.

Him and his father said that he would stay, but didn't.

Also what does he offer us?? Has anyone seen him play??

Are you serious!!!? So what. Everyone moves in their careers for more money. GET OVER IT. The lad has immense ability and technique. Are you telling me you never made a mistake when you were younger than 18? Benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing.

By no means the finish article. As JFH said, maybe another year in a country which has produced and has faith in some of the best young players in the World.

Like Ravel Morrison, a 2nd chance is what these awesomely skilled players need. Would LOVE to see them play in an England shirt or Palace shirt. Whichever.

Why would you take him back in a heartbeat? He’s playing in the Belgium 2nd division because he has failed everywhere else and no clubs in the English leagues want him, there is nothing to suggest he would be anywhere close to being good enough for Palace if we were relegated.

I also disagree that everyone would bugger off to Spurs if they came calling? OK, he was offered what was to him a massive pay rise but if he had stayed at Palace and had both fulfilled his potential by maintaining a place in the Palace first team, he could have been sold to Spurs a year later then possibly broken into their first team. He was apparently on over £300k a year at Spurs which is a fantastically large amount of money but I’m sure he is on a considerably smaller amount out in Belgium.

None of us know if he would have been a better player if he had stayed at Palace but you have to suspect it would be better than the level he has found himself at.

Great post. You are absolutely right, but I fear the moronic, bile-spitting, hold-a-grude-forever brigade will descend on you within minutes. Some people, it seems, manage to lead faultless lives and avoid ever making a mistake.

He was someone that at the time was viewed as an extraordinary talent. Presumably that doesn't go away but wasn't nurtured like it should have been.

If he has learned to work hard and that life is more competitive than he had believed, and if he develops really well, and if we actually need someone with his skills, and if he wanted to come back eating some humble pie then I think it would be a brilliant story. A true prodigal son. Could even become a legend.

But there are four big ifs here.

Let's face it most football players aren't rocket scientists (Iain excepted) and their decision making processes are often flawed. Things seem to have improved and probably Zaha was well advised. Now Johnnie has to do it the hard way and if he succeeds more power to his elbow.

When you're 15 years old it's important to get games and yes going to Tottenham would be tempting, but knowing I wouldn't get games wouldn't make me move.

He's only trying to promote himself and Ravel Morrison hasn't proven anything and is still a dick like Bostock.

He's still a traitor and always will be. He said how he loves Palace, but where was his love when he lied to SJ saying he would stay?

He made a bad career move (in hindsight). I can forgive him that.

But I really fail to see why anyone is suggesting he should be brought back - he was a prodgious talent when with us, but has failed at EVERY club he's been at since. Very promising talent, turned out to be nowhere near as good as we, or he, thought he was.

Have a look at his history of clubs - repeatedly loaned out, and sent back. I would have nothing against him coming back to the club, but the fact appears to be that he's simply nowhere near good enough.

This.

That potential has turned out seemingly to be just that and nothing more
