I was surprised to see no topic concerning Howard Webb and his performance today really does merit one. How he is revered as the best referee in this country is beyond me. He is simply awful. He is sanctimonious and full of bravado. He 'befriends' players on the pitch with his rehearsed showmanship, playing to the television cameras, yet he consistently bottles big decisions. It is not always correct to blame results on a referee, but had a courageous referee officiated today, we would have justly got a result.

Absolutely abysmal display. If he is the best referee we have got then then there is no hope. Poll was a complete clown but Webb is in a league of his own for complete incompetence. That said we can't put all the blame on him today and we need to look at out own shortcomings. Too many players just didn't turn up today.

Lets put this into perspective . He has been a very good ref over the years but this season he has had a real shocker and today's game he was all over the place with inconsistent decisions. I will be watching MOTD very closely tonight.

Another day, and Fonte and Lovren could have been off for fouls as the last defender. Webb is a good referee, by and large, but he often seems to bottle the big decisions.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

I can see why the europeanslove him, because he seemed to give a lot of fouls that were never fouls!

I actually thought he had a good game, got most decisions right. Face facts we weren't very good today and it wasn't the refs fault.

the world cup final of spain v holland was a demo of crap refereeing, what an embarassment. the dutch were a kung fu karate outfit and webb took two hours to get to grips with the situation
