TBH, he was already getting grief there and it's doubtful he'd have been given the time to get his confidence back at the Arse like he has here. Although in fairness, that's more to do with their fans than Wenger or the club themselves; if a forward isn't Bergkamp, Wright or Henry they're immediately pronounced "s***".

Good article with some interesting stats.

This is why the focus in the transfer window was on getting midfielders who can supply rather than on another striker. In Chamakh and Murray we have two excellent strikers who can score if the crosses come to them.

Also highlights how Giroud is way off being an elite striker. Nowhere near the likes of Suarez, RVP, Aguero etc

The fans who started leaving at 3-0 at Anfield, the fans who booed them off after their 0-0 with Man Utd...why would you ever want to play for such a bunch of cocks

Chamakh is a quality player, his first touch is excellent and more often than not finds a pass. I think he is best playing in behind a front man which hopefully will be Murray when he is up to fitness.

My only criticiam of Chamakh is that he seems to have lost a little confidence. There's been a few times recently where you would expect a striker to have a pop but he's laid it off. There's times where he needs to be more selfish.

I just hope we can keep hold of him next year

Years ago whilst getting all the European scores on skytext Ligue 1 would come up and, invariably, a chap called Chamakh was on the scoresheet for Bordeaux. 'How I wished we were a club where someone like him would play for us' I used to think to myself week in week out. Never in a million years.

I agree with the emboldened part but I don't think he's ever fully regained his confidence since his arrival, I can't remember who it was against but he struck one from the edge of the box and it went in, that was an instinctive shot, when he has time to think he seems to pass on responsibility. Hopefully confidence will slowly return, I believe it is. It's amazing how much those library dwelling to$$ers can screw someone up.
