I may be shot down for posting this, but I expect Hennessey to be in goal against WBA.

Imo TP bought him in because of his height/reach and I wonder if he would have saved the second goal.

I like Speroni and think he has been a great servant but I will be surprised if he isnt replaced sooner than later.

Thank you CPFC2010 for keeping me interested in football, for me no Palace no football either. Come on you Eagles.

Whilst I agree about the height etc of Hennessey and I fully expect him to replace Jules sooner, rather than later, it was a hard shot along the ground and actually more suited to a smaller keeper as getting to the ground is easier. I think Speroni will be unhappy he didn't keep it out.

Defending 100% to blame for both goals surely.

I would say the tactics were to gamble on defending very deep, not conceding and it didn't work out. Speroni was going to be very busy as a result.

I think we showed Arsenal just that little bit too much respect at the end of the day.

Hope not. Someone told me recently that he's been sun sports most consistent goalkeeper on the points gained.

I think the shot was too powerful to have kept out with one hand, to be honest. I'd be very surprised if he walked straight in on Saturday.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Tend to agree. had a seat in the north bank and you could tell by his immediate reaction he knew he should have saved it

I thought Jules did more than enough to keep his place. He made a few really good saves in the first half and was left hopelessly exposed for the 2 goals which o-c took really well.

Yea, I think he will be disappointed about the second goal. 9 out of 10 times he would save it. And he had a hell of a save from the free kick in the first half.

While I personally would stick with Jules you do not pay £3m for a player let alone a goal keeper if you don't intend to play him and soon.
Pulis said recently that Jules will be offered a new contract but I have a feeling he will be made aware that he is no longer first choice and because of that, sadly I think Jules may look to move on. Football is a short career. At his age he wants to be playing

Unsure on this one.

I was surprised as anyone when we signed Hennessey, who is a decent keeper for a large amount of money.

This leads me to believe either

1) Speroni is going to move on, whether by TP or maybe he wants another challenge elsewhere

2) Lewis Price AND Neil Alexander are both on their way out, as they are not competing with Jules for the Number 1 spot (i.e. Jules aint being displaced and they have had long enough to prove themselves)

TP will not damage the spirit of the players who are already here by shoe-horning these signings straight in. I think he is going to give everyone a fair crack to train this week to see who wants it the most against WBA. This will either push the players who are still here, or push them out of the 1st eleven.

I think Jules will still be there - as to change the keeper with the recognised back four might lead to more mistakes than less. If Scott Dann, Wayne Hennessey and Paddy McCarthy all came in for the WBA game, I cannot see how we will perform better at the back.

So, for me, Jules stays in and Hennessey will have to wait.

On that second goal, would have Jules done better simply to have stuck out his left leg? It would have been untidy, but it might have sent the ball spinning out for a corner.

Re the first goal, sky suggested he might have gone down too soon?
Is that the case? Or did he have little option?

Can any goalie clarifiy?

He'd have seen that late, and it would have been difficult to get down to and get enough on. It would have been a great save to pull off, and sometimes a keeper does, and sometimes he doesn't.

I wouldn't blame the defence, they were outstanding today, but when you're up against a squad of players of that quality, at several points they're going to get chances.

It should be remembered that our defence were up against some of the best players in the world. Our defence cost a fraction of their attacking force, and they didn't walk all over us.
