Kosowski Standing at the top of B Block 28 Jan 14 11.13pm | |

Parked the bus 65 minutes in...9 times out of 10 that would have ended badly. Nonplusing subs from Pulis. Jedi having possibly the worst game ever in a Palace shirt. Hull missing one chance after another. Strangest second half of football I've watched in years. Fans certainly did as much as anyone to get the 3 points. Delaney was a beast.

Agreed 2nd half was a horror show yet somehow came away with 3 points & a clean sheet.
The mountains are calling & I must go. |

I think Pulis got his subs spot on actually, changing his system when Hull were beginning to dominate caused momentum to shift back in our favour. It was a tremendous defensive display all round, we had just as many attempts on goal as Hull if not more. I do agree Jedinak was poor, however final 15 minutes when it really mattered he was as domineering as ever.
For everything Palace keep it here at Eating the Burger! [Link] |

To be honest I'm not sure TP's subs relieved much pressure. We had no outlet for almost the entire second half. Seemed suicidal really, but hey I'm not complaining, though it was only Hulls awful finishing that saved us imho.

It doesn't really matter how we win at the moment-another crucial 3 points. Hull didn't take their chances and we took ours so we deserved the win in the end.

Just back from the game. The only positives were the result and the support. Horrible weather, horrible football and very lucky to come away with the win. Still, 3 points in the bag! Up to 14th! COYP!

In the second half, Hull gained a lot of composure and their attackers were finding space and starting to pull the backline out of shape, meanwhile Palace's midfield couldnt find any one to pass the ball to. It was looking seriously grim. Pulis brought on the extra defender and instantly Hull were blunted. Tactical masterstroke. The game changed immediately. Punch went central and mobile and eventually we regained some attacking pressure, the game became more even. We deserved the win.

Sometimes we get a bit of luck, hard as that might be to believe. I loved it when their keeper was sent off, he really needed a handbag to wave around to vent his frustrations...

The subs were brilliant tactics. We went 5 at the back when we were under so much pressure, then they switched to 4 at the back themselves and we responded by going back to 4 and matching them in midfield, by replacing Gabbidon with O'Keefe. Pulis outthought Bruce. Yes, it was scary at times but it was effective.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Think you missed what he was doing there fella - didn't everyone used to complain about Freedman & Holloway not being able to change the game ? Pulis knew exactly what he was doing - changed to 3-5-2 when it was needed, then when Hull changed again, he then was brave enough to go back to 4-4-2 with another sub. He definitely won the tactical battle with Bruce. Great in-game management. What didn't help him was how badly we played in the second half. Jedi who is my favourite player and usually a beast had his worst game for 2 years and there were so many misplaced passes and clearances. Puncheon played excellently - some great man-management there by Pulis bigging him up after the penalty miss and like you say Delaney was also impressive. The only negative was us sitting too deep and inviting pressure - Hull were poor until their tails were up and we let them play. 3 things won us the game in my opinion: 1. Pulis' great management
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |
