Are the HOL/BBS architects of the club's 'unrest'?

I put the word 'unrest' in inverted commas as Pullis has come out to the press to say not only is he going nowhere, but the board are/have been doing a top job.

Which is a strange coincidence give that both Palace boards have been a fury of speculation, whispers, information, mis-information and passionate debate on both subjects.

Extraordinarily Palace are fairly unique in having two 'thriving' (and that aint the half of it) boards.

And we all know the football press keeps a close eye on the two sites for 'stories' (A case in point is someone like The Adder editor who is a regular in terms posting links to his paper's latest Palace 'scoop'- and there's no way he aint checking out the gossip and arguments we post). The boards are a barometer and an easy newsfeed.

So if Pullis, as he says, genuinely has no problem with the board and isnt off anywhere then are we the architects of the club becomes a 'backpage story'? Pullis is fending off questions. The board is. The players will have their fingers on every media pulse and wondering if there are 'issues' etc etc and the whole 'non-story' gets ratcheted up.

On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoy the ebb and flow of the debate, but I do wonder if the popularity of both boards has a negative side and we are, unwittingly, the architects of some of the 'unrest' (which, according to TP, is non-existant btw )

When the time comes, I want die just like my Dad - at peace and asleep.
Not screaming and terrified.

I had wondered the same myself Beagle. It seems we have a big splurge on something and then a couple of days later CPFC2010 and the manager are denying it.

I'd say so. It's easy to forget we won our last league game and are 16th in the table when reading Palace talk. Some people on here need to learn to be patient. Sign of the times, possibly.

It's really difficult to come on this forum at the moment and take anything seriously.

I sincerely hope we don't have another world war and I'm not in the trenches with half of you as you'd be having breakdowns every five minutes.

Is there anything that can be said or done that can make you guys just have a little patience and wait until the 1st? Unfortunately none of us are privvy to the information that you desire and speculating is making some people really not cope very well. We need to look after these people and understand that conjecture in any form really affects their daily lives

Thank you

Strange post. Everyone on this thread is being reasonable. If the 'you' is aimed at Holers in general maybe I see your point.

Just over a week ago we beat Stoke and rose to 16th and everything was wonderful. I'm not quite sure what happened since then.

I would have liked to have beaten Wigan, but wasn't particularly surprised that we didn't. I found it quite complimentary that Wigan's result was seen as the biggest upset of the round, which shows how far we've come.

If (if) we can get a result against Hull, then I'm sure we'll all be happy again. If we lose however... Oh God.

Interesting post but I don't think we have that much 'power' we are basically a load of Palace fans arguing about the club we love. Does anyone outside us really take it seriously?

A lot of the debate on HOL has been fuelled by the newspaper ( well, The Mirror mainly ) reporting on our struggles in the transfer window. The extension of that is to report that Pulis is unhappy as a result. Until such time as we hear to the contrary, then of course we are going to do what this site is for - discuss, speculate, rant, whatever !

We all have our own views on how the club is run. This is a place where we can share those views, no matter how extreme some of them are.

So to answer the original question - it's a '' no '' from me.

If there was any genuine unrest at the club then it would be reflected in the on field performances. And I've seen no evidence of that.

I was about to post the same thing. I should think we're pretty much ignored by the rest of the world -although I do still have a secret fantasy that Steve Parish regularly laughs at all my posts and will one day send me some complementary tickets.

I think we have as much sway as people who post comments on Youtube.

I don't think so. I do think that because we have very forthright and open owners who like to communicate with us about the club, when we are no longer in the loop (like right now because obviously they cannot divulge who they are targeting before it's official) a lot of people start fretting and believing the drivel in the press.

This with bells on.

I think the OP is rather overplaying our influence. Anyone who took anything on here seriously is an idiot or a lazy journalist. The HOL rarely even has its finger on the pulse of what the matchday crowds think !

I wouldn't go as far as saying we collectively influence the media, but we certainly seem to be our own worst enemy.

Everyone seems to cynical and pessimistic, and logic and reason go out the window. One rumor can lead to hysteria, and even counter-rumors prove to do nothing to stem the tide of panic.

Someone could spot an NCP warden popping into the club to use the gents, and within half an hour there would be a thirty page thread about Selhurst becoming a multistory car park.
