A few titbits from SB on potential new signings, taken from the BBS forum: [Link]

Jan 18: "I personally think that we have a decent squad of players already who are a great bunch of lads who give 100%. We also have an excellent manager and coaches. Performances against top teams like Chelsea, Man City and Spurs have shown that we are a good team and I'd not be keen on bringing in 6 or 7 new players. I expect we will sign 3 or 4 to strengthen the squad but I do actually believe that we could survive with what we have got if there were no injuries to key players.

Speaking with Iain, Steve and Phil today, I think that a few new players will come in but they will be on terms that are acceptable to our club."

"Tony would have liked some players in by now but he understands that, unlike some other clubs, we are not going to throw huge amounts of money away and pay whatever is asked. We will do the deals that are right for Palace and I'm sure that our sensible approach will pay off by the end of the window. I have total confidence in Iain and Steve getting in the right players at the right prices."

Jan 19: "As Steve stated in his programme notes yesterday, he and Iain Moody are working very hard on this and there are irons in fires. Signings will happen but we can't say when.

The sound financial management of the club will always be our #1 priority but don't worry there is a budget and we hope to spend it."

Why are they torturing Kenny Irons and his family? I don't think he was good enough at 25 for the Premiership, let alone 43!

Why would anyone chose to be a Seagull? The Eagle is a far superior creature.

The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace.

I don't think anyone wants to see 6 or 7, but 3 decent players who can enchanced the squad is not a bad thing.

Also interesting that TP has not been mentioned in discussions, surely he knows who he wants more than the ownwers?

Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in

It shows the gulf between the board and HOL. Posters here want to sign a gay player. The board want to put irons in the fire.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

That was in answer to a question about TP's statement before the window that he was looking to bring 6 or 7 new players in. Having seen the squad and what it can do I don't think he or anyone believes we need that many, although the way things are going even 1 or 2 would be a major surprise.

I find that quote very worrying and I would imagine that Tony Pulis isn't too enamoured with it either.

If "Iain and Steve" are running the transfer show shouldn't Tony Pulis's title be coach and not manager

No? Moody is tasked to get the players that Pulis wants. Moody then has to get Parish to write the cheques. All Pulis needs to do is his job which is manage the team he has. He seems to be doing that fine so lets hope the two in charge of the ins/outs can agree a couple of deals.

Ref, "If "Iain and Steve" are running the transfer show shouldn't Tony Pulis's title be coach and not manager."

SP has already said that Tony Pulis provides names of players and specific criteria and he and Moody either try for a deal with said player or look for ones that meet Pulis's requirements.

If that is the case I wonder why SB didn't say "I have total confidence in Iain and Steve getting in the players that Tony wants at the right prices."

Perhaps because it's not necessary?
