My immediate thought was this Ding dong the witch is dead. I was around during the miners strike, watched the yuppies get all the cake, British industry get destroyed etc. The pain of that time really stays with me. And of course that led directly to our current circumstances, our dependence on financial services and the extreme effects of Big Bang. I am guessing, just guessing, that others remember the history differently.

Roll on the state funeral. Damn right, the nation needs proof. Van Helsing to officiate! In all fairness though, I never liked her, but she was an excellent head of state, even if I disagreed with almost every decision, and the Britain her era generated. She was definately right on the Falklands, and was a great 'enemy'.
