I think it was the season before the cup final in some sort of tournament to celebrate 100 years of the football league.
I was there, we played a 20 minute match before getting knocked out. I can't remember who we played!
Were any other holers there? It's all a bit vague in my mind.

Didn`t go nick, but I think we played Sheff Wed.
Could be (probably am) wrong though.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

Aah..the Mercantile Credit tournement. Yes, I was there, and yes we went out on pens to Sheff W. We had the largest number of fans there on the day, I recall.

I remember the chants of 'Bring on the Palace'

I thought it was an Endsliegh tournament.
Surprising that fans of so many clubs were there without incident.

We did indeed by miles - We had Leeds on one side of us I recall and it got a little 'tasty' in the bar areas.

THE MERCANTILE CREDIT CLASSIC! Yes, the first time Palace really played at Wembley!

This was a football league centenary tournament that clubs qualified through their form in a specific set of league matches. I seem to remember we just qualified at the death.

A bit of a damp squid really with Wembley half empty - needless to say I think we were the most represented there. Anyway, we played Sheff Wed; drew 0-0 and went out on penalties with Barber I think missing the crucial one.

The Palace end
