Thought I would share with you my 11 year old daughter's English essay.. What makes a true palace supporter??? Well recently Palace has been going on a let’s just say a very bad streak... Of course we get cross frustrated angry with ourselves and even shouting at the television. But we don’t lose heart we keep being positive and if the players play badly we can tell them off but if they try their best and lose than that’s not really important. Of course it’s about winning, you play to win but if they try their absolute hardest than that’s all we ask from them. It’s no fun at all saying you support Man United because when you arrive at the match you just know they will probably win. But a true Palace supporter goes to as many matches as they can and proudly wear the red and blue, cheer clap and stay positive. When we lose you don’t just say I am now switching to man u so that we don’t have to go through with all the stress but anyone can say that cant they.. They are Glory Hunters, they brag to us about winning - well we say we have tried our best we can’t say anything else about it but when a Saturday comes around again and we win we are more excited than the Chelsea/Man u glory hunter fans are. We praise Palace when they do well and hopefully that will influence their next match, they will feel the support and feel more brightened. What I am trying to say is anyone can support Chelsea/Man U but it takes a whole lot more to support Palace. We have our ups and downs but that’s what supporting Palace is all about - a team we love and encourage. We love you Eagles....... Isobel

Lovely business. Written with a level of grammar, intelligence and long term perspective that many adults who frequent Palace Talk, could only aspire to. Well done, young Isobel!
WORRIED that your teeth will be stained after a heavy night drinking red wine? Fear not; drink a bottle of white wine before going to bed, to remove the stains. |

Well done Isobel. If it's of any help, my children were all mad Palace fans at your age and when they were taunted at school by some glory hunting Man.U. or Liverpool fan, I told my children to ask them how many times they had been to Old Trafford or Anfield and unsurprisingly they had to admit that they had never been to the ground. My kids then revealed that they had been to Both grounds [ to watch Palace play ] and that often surprised their taunters. I then told my kids to then walk away whilst saying " Come back and talk to me when youve been otherwise but sorry I cant speak to you! " Even if you havent been to their home grounds you will almost certainly "outrank" them because they rarely go to matches.

Sat my English Language GCSE this summer and one of the questions was: So, naturally, fresh in the memory, of course i wrote about Hillsborough. I somewhat regret that now as I got a B but i suppose it was only natural for any Palace Fan. Hey, it was either that or Stockport!
