A lot of people have been advocating over last season about what a 'nice' chap he was!

Now it's apparent that Stoke City are interested in him but the only real stumbling block it seems are his high wage demands. How can he really expect to get paid £10k a week for whatever he's done. if he wanted to play regularly which would give him a chance of getting back his form you'd think he'd drop his demands wouldn't you?!! Afterall who does he think he is? He's hardly played over the last nine months but still expects a fat wage. Only in this business could employees do this!

Smashing bloke though apparently!

This bloke is a joke, he has made millions out of being crap, makes me laugh. Palace would be better off subsidising his wages to get shot of the useless lump.

I'm sorry, but this is another example of some of the unadulterated toss that gets posted on this message board. Akinbiyi did not ask to come to Palace - we clearly paid an over-the-odds fee and over-the-odds wages for a player low on confidence, at a time when the market was slowing down. But that is not the player's fault, it is the fault of the chairman and the management.

Ade hasn't been given a proper chance at this club and it doesn't look like he will be. As soon as Kember got his foot in the door he made it plain that Ade will not be involved next season. Fair enough if he believes the player does not suit his style of football, but he should at least give the lad a run in the first team before he comes to such a definite conclusion. This is something he has never had here, and that is absolutely criminal for a player we paid so much for.

To address the point about Stoke - it is not Ade's wage demands that are the stumbling block, it is the fact that he is on a lucrative contract, which Palace want some compensation for. I think Ade would love to go to Stoke, if only to get away from all the booing idiots that support our club, but it is the chairman's demands for a fee that are the problem.

Sorry, call me old fashioned, but I would love to make a living playing football rather than commuting each day, facing the stress of City life, being constantly held to account by other peoples actions and being priced out of a ridiculous property market.

If Ade loved playing football so much, he could cope on £5k a week, I know I could. He has no financial worries, will be able to provide for his family for life and for 'someone who hasn't been given a chance', it seems that he has done enough to convince people he not worth 10k a week.

Akinbuyi did actually get a chance at this club. he got injured (fair enough, not the blokes fault) but when he came back he still didnt put the effort in and i think its rubbish when people say he still wasnt match fit as he had months. Look at Jamie Smith, he was bought back early and not match fit and he played some blinding games and really gave it his all. Akinbuyi would just slug around and not bother running for the ball, i wasnt convinced and neither was Mr Kember so he is being an arrogrant idiot for demanding what he is demanding! He kept saying he wanted to win some respect so why didnt he bother?
Im sorry but the sooner he goes the better as his attitude was one of many that affected the squad last year.

It's a good point, Tommy. He's never had a proper run in the first team and been able to demonstrate what he's actually capable of. In the short time he's been at Stoke, he's certainly proved that he can find the net and this, sadly, leads me to conclude that the attitude shown by various people here has done little to improve his already damaged confidence. I find it hard to understand how a striker can fail to 'fit in' with a particular style of play; I'd have thought that being in the right place when the ball arrives in the area is what being a striker is all about, regardless of what style the team plays in. Perhaps it's another example of Mr. Kember's lack of tact when it comes to making public comments about his players, the description of Rubins being a 'waste of space' springing immediately to mind.

If he does go, it's more a question of freeing up the wage burden rather than wasting a transfer fee as I believe the fee agreed with Leicester was dependent on appearances and goals, and there hasn't been a whole lot of either.

He's been subjected to too much pressure, by both fans and staff at the club and I wouldn't blame him one bit for wanting out. A great shame, because I think he would do it for us if he was given sufficient chance over the longer term.

Utter balls. Akinbiyi started one game last season - at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Admittedly he had a bit of a shocker but so did every player on the pitch for that game. In the sub appearances he made he looked up for it: he scored a fantastic equaliser against Coventry and nearly planted a beautiful winner against Pompey. Then he went on loan to a club that gave him some respect and scored 2 goals in 4 starts. What does that tell you about giving him a chance?

Jamie Smith played one and half games, looked as sloppy and as reckless as ever, and ended up injuring himself again. This proves that you can't just throw a player back into the action after a long term injury and expect them to be fit.

You say Ade is being "an arrogant idiot for demanding what he is demanding". Have I missed something? What is he demanding? I haven't heard him ask for anything let alone demand it. Perhaps he should demand some respect from ignorant fans but he hasn't. Perhaps he should demand a run in the first team but he hasn't. Do you actually have any idea what you're talking about??

Good points as ever CF - parcticularly about SK's ill-judged comments. Ade is a proven goal scorer, and I don't really understand what "style" forward SK thinks he is.

Hmmm, Akinbiyi trying to get as much money as he can to secure a safe future for him and his family....clearly an arsehole eh?

Are we supposed to be naive enough to believe the boo boys and SJ are at total fault for Akinbiyi's poor form? The fact he ran back to his old mate at Stoke and instantly performed tells me he was clearly putting more effort in there than he did in his whole spell with us.

Although as I disagree that obviously makes me an ignorant idiot...

exactly! remember guys, he's gonna be in a high tax bracket because of his earnings.most footballers have nothing but high tax bills left over after their massive expenditure and for some footballers, any added possible income is very welcome.
