...which city would you choose. I refer of course to rhyming slang for mammaries, with apologies to female posters (and moderaters) for any perceived sexism. I was just wondering why Bristol was chosen, but there is a certain assonance and alliteration and the 'city' suffix is memorable because it differentiates with rovers. So reference to 'Cardiffs' or 'Oxfords' would not work. Chesters is too literal and they're not in the league atm, Manchesters is too much of a mouthful (no pun intended), Lincolns isn't bad although people might think of cars, personally if I couldn't use Bristols, for whatever reason, that's not important. I'd go for Bradfords. I'd be most interested in other people's choices. Don't worry chaps, only a week to go.

Talking of 'female posters' and 'Bristols'... the world's biggest-selling poster was the 1976 Farrah Fawcett 'red swimsuit' poster. It sold over 12 million copies, and is believed to have helped millions of teenage boys along their sherman-tanking (or tommy-tanking or jodrell-banking) journeys.

So, I believe, did the 'Tennis Girl' poster

Catamarans!

Well, they have a nice pair of Hulls!

I knew a chap who thought that when Fred Trueman said "Ah'll si'thi'" (I'll see thee) at the end of Indoor League he was really saying 'Hull City'. And yes he was a bit of a tit.

Many years ago I heard "Georgie Bests", as in "What a lovely pair of Georgie Bests!"

More recently, but still quite a while ago, I heard "Look at the punk rockers on that!"

There was another one, but I don't understand it..."a lovely set of George Clooneys". Maybe it's fair game to insert almost any three syllable name or phrase, as everyone will know what you mean.

I can't place it, but I've got a distant memory of a sketch show sketch where rhyming slang was done in reverse. For example a "dolly bird" would appear and someone would say "Cor, what a lovely pair of tits!". Then all his mates would stop and say "sorry?....what??...and he would explain..."You know...tits.. threepenny bits...gedditt??" and they would all give a muted "oh yeah...very good...right-o" kind of response. I think you had to be there. Could it have been Paul Whitehouse or someone of that ilk?
