No , you're not on your own there . I think as you said he had a decent tournament but not flawless, he does make the odd error but show ne a defender that doesn't and I'll show you a liar . IMO i think that is a good offer for him and i think it should be taken hand and all and invest, if my math is correct we will have to give Chelsea 13 mill out of it also for their 20 percent sell on clause .

For avoidance of doubt, the 20% sell-on clause (if it exists) relates to our PROFIT on a sale and not the FEE received. According to Transfermarkt we paid €23.34m (about £20m) for him so it's 20% of the initial fee Newcastle would pay (say £60m) minus £20m = £40m profit, so £8m due to Chelsea.

If you think about it, if we bought a player for £20m with a 20% sell-on clause and sold him for £10m it would be madness to also have to pay a %age of the sale price to the club you bought him from when you've made a loss on the player.

As I posted this I saw doombear has made a similar comment, probably more accurate than mine. Still rather than delete it all I'll keep it in.....if only for the fact that it took a few minutes to write.

So his contract is essentially 20 percent on the profit?

I have no idea what agents take from the pie and from who's pie.

However at face value If it's 60 million with 5 with add ons then you correctly state that 9.4 is the end figure after add ons. Though initially it's 8.4 million up front for the prawn sandwich eaters.

So for now we receive a 51.6 million, presumably rising a few bob later with add ons..though it's never a guarantee..

Palace have made tens of millions of profit on Guehi.

Tasty.

We will definitely need a replacement, because defenders get injured like everybody else.

Ask Chelsea to take £6m arguing if we don’t sell, the player will walk-in a couple of years with no fee. Or negotiate a discount on Chalobah.
Overall agree we should sell. Look at the Nantes goal.

Yup, Guehi & Richards getting in each others way, so?

Yeah, the criticism he got for that was a tad much....no defender is perfect.

Newcastle are getting one of the best centre halfs in the country....I would say overall our best one.

We are just lucky that Richards has proven capable.
