At the grand old age of 99 one of the original Doctor Who cast has passed away. I must confess I did not realise he was still alive. A bit before my time he he was a star of the 1950's and early sixties appearing in Hollywood movies and he had his own show, Sir Lancelot. However he will mostly be remembered as the Doctor's first assistance teacher Ian Chesterton. RIP

Edited by Badger11 (05 Jun 2024 8.14am) Wouldn't have known his name but his death means John Leyton is the only actor from The Great Escape who's still alive.

Dr Who can travel anywhere in time and space, yet "they" (gedditt??) always choose a companion from 'our' present day and furthermore from the UK.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |
