A friend volunteers for a charity she was asked to complete DEI training. As she is a lady of a certain age technology is pretty baffling so she asked for my help with the on line training. My Friend Me The Test I was staggered at just how hard it was. Most of the questions you would expect an answer saying this discrimination, however the answers did not follow that. I don't have specifics but the first question the answers went like this. a Is this direct discrimination Another example was about a lesbian denied promotion, obviously that is wrong. The answers included Sex discrimination or sexual orientation discrimination and 2 others. To say it gave us a headache was an understatement. Anyway we only got 7 right on the first attempt. Those of you at work will probably be, so what? but I don't get why it had to be so overly complicated. Most questions were geared to say yes this is wrong its discrimination so what does it matter what legal definition. This is about treating people fairly and making people aware of the types of mistakes they can make. I get if you are in HR or a company lawyer or even a senior manager the nuances matter. But when you serve food to homeless people? If I didn't know better somebody in a DEI role was just making a job for themselves. In Summary I had no problems with the training or the questions / examples, it was the ridiculous answers. Why not simply say is this discrimination Yes or No. Anyway good luck to those who have to go through this BS. Edited by Badger11 (01 Jun 2024 7.51am) Edited by Badger11 (01 Jun 2024 7.56am)

I'm glad I'm now retired as just before I left we were instructed to refer to people by their preferred pronounces in emails. Which were listed at the bottom of their emails. Now that is fine if you are replying but what if you were sending! You would have to look each person up and make a note. Mental. I was also asked to sit in on a zoom about it as I was at home a lot just before I left. I was shouting at the screen listening to some of the sh!te they were spouting. Luckily I was on mute! They were discussing what warnings and punishments should be given for various infringements of these rules!!!! Up to dismissal!!!! When they discussed racism a black lady asked if she could say something. She then said that when she joined she was worried about it but that every person she had met was nothing but courteous, helpful and considerate. And therefore discussing punishments was a moot point. They all went quiet for a few seconds then carried on!!! There were six different "diversity managers" in on the discussion all being paid vast sums of money so I suppose they had to justify their existence! The lunatics have taken over the asylum!

I think that is my point. They are overly complicating what is essentially simple e.g. people should be treated fairly and with respect. I have said this before I do not believe DEI is a full time job it can be one of several responsibilities assigned to HR. However as you say they have a staff all struggling to justify their existence so they make it too complicated.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The thing is, the bo.llockey language keeps changing every couple of years. Therefore, you are fully entitled to invent your own Orwellian language. And throw it back at them. Accuse them of being prejudiced. Of not complying with the latest email. Not complying with their own rules. to confuse them and pretend to look offended. Keep telling them that they are being very offensive and ignorant of your special requirements. If they continue to do so, you will be duty-bound to dob them in. And thus you can invent your own needy special privileges and throw it back at them. a whiney old bint i know was bo.llocking me for parking the wrong distance from the kerb. I told her my spacial awareness was compromised cos i have Sickle Cell Anaemia..''oh, i am sorry to hear that'' she replied. Unaware that white people cannot get sickle cell anaemia....and it probably has nothing to do with your parking skills. You need to enjoy your work. 14 minutes in the video below. Decent money and probably zero accountability. Its not like you are going to crash an airplane or lose a million quid. i would apply for that job myself except that i got zero probability of a job offer. diversity manager wanted - no whites, no irish, no straights

It normally stops the 'I'm seeking praise' individual.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |
