I know what you mean. We probably don't need THAT much strengthening. Possibly only competition for Mitchell and one extra centre back to compete with Andersen/Guehi/Richards for those three CM berths. Imagine leaving two of Doucoure, Hughes, Lerma and Wharton on the bench!? Originally posted by palace chick
I’m beginning to wonder if we keep that squad together, do we need to strengthen during this summer window. If we lose Guehi only would that hurt us. We now have a front 3 with Franca to return, Edouard and Ayew. Even Schlupp who’s signed on for another year can play further forward? We have our two in midfield plus Dacoure and Hughes. Perhaps Ozil as well (might go out on loan?) Munoz and Mitchell fill in right and left and then we have a back 3 for which Clyne has been outstanding filling in. We also have Ward and Holding. Not only that, with Wharton in midfield with Hughes and a returning Dacoure, Lerma could be a permanent alongside Andersen and Richard’s? Then we have others from our under 21’s coming through plus Rak Saki. And we have a couple of decent England keepers plus Matthews and Whitworth (another possible loan out). Of course, if we do sell some of our best players then we will need to replace them. Let’s hope that front 3 stay? What a great position we are in at this time and for perhaps the first time in many years (if ever) we look to have a shout next season of some honours in the best league in the world? I’ve never been so positive :-)

Anorak time: By my reckoning, we have now scored 26 goals in a row from open play. No set pieces or penalties. It feels like it must be some kind of a record but God knows how one could check.

I could though my defintion of scoring from a corner would probably differ from official stats. But you are probably right as we traditionally were much stronger from set-pieces. Richard seems to be getting opportunities in the air but fails to direct them adequately Here is one stat. Olise and Eze have started five games together under Glasner: against Liverpool, Villa, United, West Ham and Wolves. Not shabby opposition and we have won all five games with 18 goals scored and 2 conceded whilst they were on the pitch

This period under Glasner has seen the most incredible run of beautiful football and beautiful goals in my memory and almost certainly in the history of the club. Four of the five on Saturday were crackers. But over and over we keep scoring stunning strikes. A wonderful time to be alive. Well done on starting this thread. I was only saying the other day to a pal that, being in my eighties, I had some time ago lost the instinct to jump up with arms in the air and a big smile on my face after a score. That's changed. I suppose "jump" wouldn't nowadays be a fair description of my reaction, but the thrill is right back, thanks to the skill, teamwork, positivity and enthusiasm of the players.

Just magnificent. My son, who's been coming to watch pretty insipid football for five years, has finally seen what it can be like. TBF, it's much the same for me and I've been coming since the 80s. I'd really like someone to produce a montage of all our goals since Glasner. I'm sure it would be mind-blowing to see them all in one place.
