From what I remember wasnt part of the reason that David Beckham fell out with Man Utd & moved to Real Madrid because he felt that he should receive a %age of the clubs proceeds from merchandise sales & the club said no ? I think that the story in the papers was written in a way indicating that the player felt that his brand was bigger than that of the club (or at the very least his brand recognition was a key factor in the club reaching its shirt sales target)

Interesting article. I remember reading at the time that after his move to Real that the club was earning something like £200-300m pa from Beckham merchandise and he was getting a percentage. Perhaps those figures were wildly exaggerated, he was certainly their most high profile player.

I wish we would get either adidas or Nike to make our kits (and other clothing) It is rumoured we won't ever get adidas again because we left them out of pocket when the club went into admin in 1999 I know the kits would largely be generic 'template' kits rather than bespoke designs, but I would so much prefer to have an adidas or Nike coat, trakky top or hoody than Macron or other similar brands Puma was alright I suppose but for me it has to be the main two I am sure sales would increase as long as it isn't priced at pisstake levels I do wonder if selling that 4th kit (albeit for charity) at £90 was the club testing the water for fans appetite to pay pisstake prices for replica shirts?

I would love to know what Millwall's revenue is. My Millwall mates say that no one wears a shirt if you do you're likely to get a clump. The only ones who do are the occasional tourist. I expect the club would love to change that attitude but it aint gonna happen.

when Leicester won the Prem, their T shirts were everywhere to behold. Especially among kids.

Quite a few of the SE Asia Airport duty free stores had them on sale too - Part of the "King Power" influence. Originally posted by PalazioVecchio

If you click on the Palace link in that article it states that the contract with Macron runs until 2032, so you've got a long wait for any potential change.
