The Adam Wharton juggernaut continues to gather momentum. The FA chose to put him in front of the cameras yesterday in their first official media day in Germany. He looks confident and assured and it resulted in full page articles in both my papers, the Mail and the Times. Others too I suspect.

Not sure if there's a message in all this, but I'd be surprised if our boy doesn't appear in England's opening match. One thing's for sure, he's attracted a great deal of positive reaction and his value to us is increasing daily.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Sadly, I think it is unlikely he will start on Sunday. But then with England it's highly likely things will not go as planned and he'll get his opportunity.

I am sure there is no truth in the rumour that to better prepare either Conor or Trent for the midfield role alongside Rice that Gareth sat them both down and showed them a video of Wharton against Bosnia, saying, 'just do it like Adam lads'

For all the qualities that CG and TAA bring to the side they dont bring the same ones as those we see in Wharton and don't see them as his competition .
If Southgate wants to play two DM with passing ability Wharton has to play . CG brings energy and pressing and TAA isnt a midfielder well not a central one anyway .
Im sure if you asked Bellingham , Foden and Kane who they would want behind them it would be Adam .Receiving the ball early is so important at the highest level as it creates its own space giving the forwards shooting chances either immediately or through the next pass that can be made without pressure .

100% agree, in the latter stages of the second half Wharton would have been the perfect fit, calm, focussed and picking out the crucial passes. I think as the tournament progresses we will see him involved. Superb player.

Bring back Brolin
