It seems to me there are several Palace players who are on the bubble for a trip to the Euros, though none are likely to start

Johnstone: Was No. 2 to Pickford before picking up injury. If fit, I think Pope is better (and superior to Pickford for that matter) but he could still be a back-up

Henderson: He has been talking himself up and has previous experience. Probably better than Trafford (who has been dropped by Burnley) and could get in because of the paucity of fit alternatives

Guehi: May need to play a few games to show some form but rivals like Dunk, Colwill and Braithwaite have hardly forced themselves into a must-take position

Mitchell: He seems to be more highly regarded outside of the club than by Palace fans. Alternatives like Shaw, Chilwell and Trippier have not played much whilst Tyrick is very reliable

Wharton: He is exactly the sort of player that Southgate needs to play alongside Rice with his ability to break up play and almost always make the right pass. Hard to see anyone objectively preferring Henderson or Phillips and Mainoo does not look as good a defender if Southgate is wanting someone who allows Rice to take a more box-to-box role. England haven't won a major tournament since a certain London midfilder who hadn't been selected until 1966 started for the team: Martin Peters

Eze: He will need to sparkle in the run-in but he does bring something different if England are struggling. Maddison has yet to play well for national team, has gone of the boil at Spurs and has attitude issues. Personally, I think if they want just one attacking midfielder who is a weak defender they will take Palmer

Personally, I think they will take Guehi and possibly one of the goalies but a couple of years down the road wish they had taken a punt on Wharton

Selfishly I hope none go, being from the Alex Ferguson school.
I may be in a minority, but I don't like international football and see downsides in either potential injury (which we've been the victim of) or the raising of players' profiles leading to entitled clubs trying to unsettle and buy them.
Sure the value may go up, but I don't relish sale of our players and wouldn't want to encourage it.

.

I think things have got more tribal at the local level over the years and if you are not particularly patriotic then might even prefer England to lose if the team doesn't feature any of your players. Back in the day before MOTD only the FA cup was shown on TV and there was probably more international football shown, like the home nations tournament.
Having said that, it would be nice to see a Palace player score the winner or be the penalty shoot-out hero in the final

Guehi is probably the only one with a chance of making the Plane . Southgate will have his squad pencilled in for the summer and bar injuries there wont be room for any late arrivals though Henderson could make it on the basis he is English, playing in the premier league and there is little other choice .

Agree with the sentiment, but do you not think players like Lerma, Munoz, Anderson, Eze etc wouldn’t have come to Palace if we had a Ferguson attitude of stopping them playing for their country?

Guehi is the only one with a chance. If he isn't starting matches by the time of the United game then I don't think he'll make it given Stones and Shaw are also ongoing injury risks back there.

Eze is too far away. No hope for a 23 man squad and would be scraping into a 26.

Problem is he'll want the 10 role but Foden, Palmer, Bellingham are clear of him. That means he is left competing for the left. Honestly, I think it's hard to argue his place on the left over Gordon who gives a different option and that's without Rashford and Grealish being in the conversation who despite their faults both carry experience that will be valued. He's probably about 9th in a race for 6 or 7 spots attacking midfield.

Sounds like Pope is soon back for Newcastle which will probably kill off Henderson's very feint hopes.

Expect Pickford, Ramsdale and one of Pope/Butland to be the keepers.

I actually think that Henderson might one Palace player that makes the squad if his decent form continues.

Pickford is automatic selection for Southgate
Ramsdale isn't playing currently
Pope has been out of most of the season and isn't back yet
Johnstone looks like he will be injured for the euros.
Trafford has been dropped by Burnley

Looks promising for Henderson.

Guehi - he needs to get back asap and show he is right on form, otherwise he won't go
Mitchell - Southgate seems to prefer his RB's playing at LB.
Eze - really difficult to get in with the likes of Foden, Palmer and Bellingham.
