An impressive list. My formative years as a football fan were spent at Hayes Lane watching Bromley in the Isthmian League, which I believe was one tier down from The old Southern League which was one step away from Division 4, although there was no automatic promotion in those days. He was a Welsh Amateur International. I played against him a couple of times, couldn't get near him !

My brother used to walk there when we lived in Hayes. I only used to follow the mighty Palace. My brother was telling me about having half time tea and cake with the players at Bromley. Clearly some time ago. Tea and cake must still be served up in the Palace dressing room at the moment judging by our second half performances! Tea slopped all over the place and crumbs everywhere. No wonder the team cannot last beyond 75 minutes!

Prices had had a hike at Aberystwyth. Adults prices gone up £1 to £8. But a tea and sausage burger is still £3.50.

Big shout out to my local team Welling United who won again today 1-0 at home to Torquay!! They were second to bottom and with no hope of surviving when Rod Steiger took charge and since then they’ve only lost two in fourteen league games and are all but safe!!

I watch welling highlights on YouTube because they were once one of my local teams and they have had a great finish to the season after looking doomed. I’m not sure how old you are, but do you remember Gary Abbott? He was a prolific goalscorer back in my time of going, very powerful as well, like a non league Alan Shearer. He’s always stuck in my mind, one of my favourite non-league players over the years. He had a short spell managing my local team now Sittingbourne Edited by monkey (06 Apr 2024 9.16pm)

Remember Tony Nantcurvis at BGS( still refuse to call it RBS) very easy to sidetrack him in History lessons by talking about football.Good player and good teacher.
