I've just watched Oliver's first pre-match press conference and given the abysmal level of questions put to him, he handled it very well. He admitted he's got no magic wand so wee can't expect to see a great deal of difference in how we play tomorrow. What we can expect though, is to see him roaming around the technical area with a fair amount of energy. He's been told to be careful not to do an 'Arteta' when we score. He also said we shouldn't expect to see Adam Wharton having grown significantly, which amused me. He confirmed also he doesn't like a lot of sideways and back passing, sounded like he wouldn't like to see us defending a 1-0 lead, but rather going all out attack again. He really does feel and sound like a breath of fresh air. I did too and was impressed at the honesty and lack of bs. Has a sense of humour too, which is vital. I particularly liked that he put building trust and relationships before getting the players to adapt to new ideas. This is the same whenever you become the manager of an established group whatever the business. Footballers are human just as much as anyone else. I also loved Andre Andrew’s interview at Everton. Showed humility, respect, determination and reality. I can see them bonding as strongly as Andre did with Roy. From the team building and character points of view I think we should be very happy with this appointment.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Glasner said everything he was expected to say in a first pre match .Team togetherness ,we will try to score goals , doesn't like passy ,passy at the back ect. Basically every fans wishes and complaints . But you know the feeling when you hear the bank is calling in the debt , when you catch the milkman going out the back door or when the dog gets run over ? It happened to me at the end of the presser when he said one of his big influencers was Wreck it Ralph Ive recovered a little , after a good night on the sauce a slight hangover and a good fry up Im feeling a bit more positive ,everyone starts with a clean slate and all that ,the proof as always though will be in the pudding COYP

I’m still at the recovering from a good night stage with tea in bed! I do feel quite positive however and await today’s game with interest, along with the rugby as well of course.

He's certainly saying all the right things but then so did Malcolm Allison. Sometimes. At other times he just said things. It's causing a strange sensation...could it be optimism? Whatever it is it's an unusual reaction to a Palace manager.

From his interviews it seems Glasner will be going for evolution rather than revolution.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

He said several times words to the effect Burnley are on a terrible run so he fully expects to beat them as he should and we should

On the broader subject of manager interviews and the rubbish often spouted I have to confess I enjoy the interviews by the Brentford manager .

I agree Patrick: Thomas Frank does say it as it is, which I like. He's also done a great job with Brentford and I would have voted for him as successor to Roy. Also HKO, you're so right about the inability to hear properly the questions in pressers. Maybe best we don't hear mind, as they're often repetitive and inane.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Loved his post match interview - a very humanistic approach ... however, what does it take for the comms team to get a mic into the journalists so we can hear the question! It's pretty basic stuff FFS! Sorry I posted this before I saw a similar comment in the thread, but still, a simple fix. Edited by radicalsteve (25 Feb 2024 12.08am)
