Sometimes it just needs a new set of eyes and no bias to see what is painfully obvious! The keeper position is more visible but I’m sure the old bench warmers and Schlupp will also now be replaced. It was a statement first squad selection that youngsters were getting the experience now and opportunity later!

Roy did it one way and OG will now do it his! This end of season change may be a blessing in disguise as it will shape us up nicely for next season as the word relegation now seems a long way off but not impossible!

I think the bigger picture is the £20m we spent on him. DF always seems to be a very shrewd guy. That money could definitely been spent elsewhere!

i agree - i thought Iversen from Leicester would have been a solid No2 at less than £5m.

However, although wages are high the price we paid for a young English international goalie was quite reasonable. Forest bought a reserve goalie from Arsenal in the summer (Turner) for £10m and Sanchez went to Chelsea for £25m. Man U paid c£45m for a pretty average keeper too. Ramsdale, cost Arsenal c£25m (rising to £30m) when he signed a couple of years ago. £15m upfront seems quite reasonable IMHO.

The other thing to factor in is Sam's injury record. Had a few injuries last season including the period when VG also had a knock so we ended up playing a youngster for a couple of games. There were quite a few moaning about that situation at the time.

This season Sam got a calf injury during the Liverpool game and an unfit Henderson was rushed back to play v Man City and gave a MoM performance.

So even if we are in agreement that Sam is the preferred No 1 based on the last 2 seasons he will get at least 1 injury per season so a decent replacement will always be required.

I doubt we will face any add ons at this stage, so if Henderson fails to materialise for us, we would probably get say £14m for him as he is evidently very good at telling everyone how good he is. We may also have to give up say £8m towards his salary for 4 seasons as no one else is going to pay him £100k/wk unless of course he goes to Saudi.
