Feels a bit like the Decoure story, he trained all week & then on the Friday reported he was tired & couldn't take part in the game on Saturday, with Roy saying that he was surprised by the players / medical teams announcement, then a few weeks later Decoure played, tore his Achilles & is out for the rest of the season, were the 2 things connected ?

Honestly I dont know, but its quite a coincidence.

I'm not providing a name, that's not fair.

He's not at the club any more, but was previously Head of. Is now at a top northern team.

Their main issue was the lack of engagement with their teams data and recommendations, e.g. seeing players struggling in the week, suggesting they looked like they were over training, and needed a rest but getting ignored.

From what I've heard from an ex sports science employee, it is their opinion that Roy doesn't pay any attention to the dept's advice.

Certainly that would fully concur with our injuries profile over the past year. It's been my concern for some time.
Having said that, don't lose sight of the fact that Olise's original serious hamstring injury occurred playing for France U21's in the summer and was in fact a collision with the Norwegian keeper that tore his hamstring requiring immediate surgery. It was of course his rehabilitation from that and clearly premature return to top flight competition that has left us with our current Olise plight.

I just hope Roy is not applying this mentality to his own personal condition today.
I really hope for all the right reasons both for his sake and ours he carefully and sensibly puts his feet up at home today in a nice warm house, relaxing and looking positively ahead towards a long overdue retirement.
It has been painful on occasions over the past year to see the old chap standing out in a wet old mac, soaking wet hair, with rain dripping off his chin weathering all sorts of freezing conditions in sleet and rain visibly shivering in the cold.

One major improvement since we came up (until Lady Luck fu**ed us this year) has been the speed of medic/rehab. You don't have to go far back to recall us languishing near the foot of the table with a tiny squad, 13 of whom were long term physio room occupants. We are now (or were) on par with all the other clubs.

We had clearly invested in a much improved backroom team. I seem to recall the improvement was almost instant after that bloke went back to Australia.

Losing someone senior from that team to a big club and then having to recruit someone from a smaller club does not sound good on paper.

I guess time will tell.

Could certainly be.

He wasn't direct as to put 2+2 together. But did say that the main reason for him leaving was that the dept just didnt hold any sway.

And because the data is never 100% definitive more indicative (e.g. HRV is 2% lower than is is usually as this point in the week suggesting that training should be a little lighter tomorrow) you can imagine how its very easy to ignore if you:

1. Dont really buy in to data driven decisions
2. Are under pressure to fix stuff on the training pitch

Unless I hear direct from this party I call this BS.

Why you are tryign to hide the persons name is puzzling and next you did not even give us the person title or role the way you are describing them is data analyze.

This information sounds like some one who does not even understand this subject and has no background in fitness or medicine

A professional in this field knows full well you can not train at this level everyday and to claim they are is 100% BS players will train at most 3 times a week the rest will be cool downs etc.

A person with NVQ level education in this subject would even know this.
