So without the very public pressure from the HF, you'd be happy with Roy Hodgson still in charge?

You would also, not have an in-depth interview with Textor to discuss on here, as that has only come from the HF pressure.

You insinuating the public pressure from the HF got Hodgson released and made Textor do an interview?

Ok, lol, I'm out...

Textor again hinted he will sell O'Brian to a PL club (Everton) this summer. Suppose Everton pay £15m to cash strapped Lyon, how exactly does that benefit Palace?

I know people have said that O'Brian wanted first team football but we could have loaned him to Lyon or any other club.

Yeah this is the bit from the interview that going me going "err ok what?".

The only way that this potentially could help Palace is if there is a buy-back clause, as we could have him back and, if Textor needs to raise revenue at Lyon, shift some money legally (although feels a bit money laundering-ish to me!) from Palace to Lyon. Even then we're out of pocket, but if Textor puts up the money then we're just moving his money around.

Then again, O'Brien might have actually wanted to leave Palace and there was nothing we could do about it, so why not Lyon?

I think you might be giving them a bit too much credence.

Parish knows the value of the HF, we get tourists coming in to sample the "famous atmosphere at an old-fashioned ground" and the HF is central to creating that atmosphere and the club's marketing policy to encourage that reputation. It's why they have been given so much by the club, from shifting long-standing season ticket holders out of the central section (with a "sucks to be you" attitude to those ticket holders) and moving the HF in and priority on tickets and location when we have got to Wembley, etc.

But do they lead and influence the opinion of the majority of the fans? Nah, they echo what the majority of the fans are thinking, but those thoughts are already there. Roy knew it before the banners, why do you think he lost his rag saying we were "spoilt" in one of his interviews? You could tell by his demeanor that he knew he was losing the fans (and the team!) long before the banners came up and Parish and Co. knew it as well. As it turns out, they'd already lined up Glasner in the background to take over and if Glasner is not lying about being in talks since the autumn about taking over, then they already had a plan that has nothing to do with the protests. Should they have told us? Ideally yes, but would that not have undermined Roy and potentially affected the team more? Probably. Anyway, wrong thread for this.

But do I think that the HF's banners changed anything? No, I don't and tbh, I'm not convinced that they didn't make things worse from a team morale perspective.

I wouldn't rule Brentford out as a potential destination for
O Brien, they have had a lot of serious injuries across their back line this season.
