The basic issue is we struggle against direct play and balls into the box. We struggle with set pieces. Those are at the heart of the way Everton play.
When Everton struggle is when teams attack them and pin them back. They lack creativity and can concede from quick passing moves. The issue there is that that isn't how we play.
It's kind of hard to envisage us changing overnight.

Both teams struggle enough to score so we can perhaps luck/tough out a draw. Maybe 0-0 when you consider the cup games.

Without making any predictions, surely the law of averages means we will score from a corner?! Feels like the Quest for the Holy Grail now.

I read yesterday that Everton have conceded the 3rd least goals in the division from open play.

Everton are a massive bogey side for us recently, even when we play well against them we still conspire to make a hash of it.
However the longer these runs go on, surely the closer they are to ending?

We have not defeated Everton in our last 6 games against them.
Our last win against them was 4-0 at Home in the FA Cup in Mar 2022.
Our last win against them in the league was the 3-1 Home win in Dec 2021.
We have only beaten them once in our last 18 PL games against them.
Our last win at Goodison Park was in Sep 2014 when we won 3-2.

I feel as though change is on the horizon but I very much doubt any change in our results is likely to come about tonight.

I'd be very happy with a draw here however a defeat will just be another straw on the camel's back of our PL existence. I can't even bring myself to envisage a win.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

With everything going on it is really hard to know how the team will react and I think most of us would have sympathy if the players struggle. A lot of what Everton have been about this season has been enthusiasm, hard work and team spirit. They are not full of creative talents. Match them for spirit and endeavour and we have a fighting chance. I also think they look less happy defensively when players run at them, especially Braithwaite who for all his plaudits has looked a bit clumsy in the 18-yard box in one-on-one situations when I've seen him.

Another big factor is the crowd. If the findings of their appeal remain under lid that might take the edge off them. In the last couple of seasons they've looked best when it has looked like the world is against them, but right now they're in a state of flux and we're the underdogs.

Indeed ,since we lost the power of Dann and Delaney and dare I say Luca and Benteke we have just been too lightweight for a game that at times has been against the land of the giants .

Their game is about overpowering sides and to be fair we don't have much resistance in that department . We need to be up for games against these big time and anything less and its men against boys

I'm really expecting that, after today's announcements, Ray and Paddy will be able to fire the team up to make a huge effort to put 2 or 3 past Pickford and come away with 3 points. We can do it!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
