Seems a semi obsession to start Franca. From what we've seen, what has he done to merit a start? Looks enthusiastic but currently lightweight and off the pace.

Have put Wharton in, but in all honesty don't know what his real position is.

I'd be particularly disappointed in Henderson starts over Johnstone.

To be honest I think Franca would be a damn sight better in centre mid than Schlupp who can’t pass, can’t track back and carries no real threat going forward any more, but you know he will probably start as a Roy favourite.

Nothing really, but what has Schlupp done to consistently get game time?

This would be my team, I wouldn't expect it to click in one game but going forwards it'd give us a more balanced side with playing in their correct positions.

Our defensive structure has looked awful at times, with players not looking like that know when to press and when not too. I think it was for the Brighton second goal that the midfield 3 advanced halfheartedly almost in a flat line which one simple pass then bypassed them all. Not a great reflection on the coaching team. Hopefully they'll have been working on that this week.

My team, too. What have we to lose when Hodgson's last 3 games have resulted in 11 conceded goals? Unfortunately unless the manager has an unexpected 'conversion to reality' it will include Hughes, Schlupp and Henderson. Good luck with them, Roy.

I think Wharton has to play but he needs to be extremely vigilant as Gallagher's main strength is harrying opposition players into losing the ball or making misplaced passes.

As others have mentioned, unless Franca plays their will be no threat on the break. It was painful watching Hudson-Odoi and Elanga run riot for Forest yesterday and think that at least one of them could have been on our books for the price of a Henderson

Slightly OT, I don't think Ebiowei and Adaramola are going to figure much for us unless we drop a division. RWDM got tonked 0-4 at the weekend. The former did not get off the bench and the latter was removed at half-time with the team already three down

Johnstone

Munoz Andersen Richards Mitchell

Wharton

Ahamada Lerma Ayew

Franca

Mateta

Wharton protects the back four, Franca has licence to have a free role between midfield and Mats.

I would play Lerma man to man on Gallagher.
Chelsea have played him further forward recently with Caceido and Fernández deeper.
Lerma may have the energy and physicality to compete with him.
It's early days, but Wharton doesn't look like a tackler to me.
He seems to like to put his foot on the ball and link the play.

The next half hour is going to really drag waiting for the team announcement!
