If, as you quoted Eze, won't be available, who could we put there without unbalancing the 'shape', Ayew with Edouard left? To me, the obvious answer would've been Wharton, but we all know Roy doesn't do 'obvious'.
Wharton has spent more than 80% of his playing time as a DM.

He's not going to be getting back and helping TM out. If it was me I'd want to play as close as a like for like as we have, which I think is Ahamada. (but I'd also start Wharton and Munoz)

Too true, a perfect example of that was in 1990. Liverpool 9 C Palace 0. Above games in the league. Who bet against Liverpool in our next game in the FA Cup, after all given those two games who would? Liverpool 3 C Palace 4 The home game was Palace 0-2 Liverpool. The 5-1 home defeat was a few seasons later if memory serves me right.

Brighton will be without wingers March and Mitoma, but still threaten out wide through clever use of full backs and rotation of players meaning the likes of Gross can also occupy wide positions.

I think you can expect a team to be able to defend set pieces and score some goals. The two are not mutually exclusive. I would suggest they are amongst the basic fundamentals of football. I have lots of expectations but Palace continually thwart them......that's life.

And JRS is not only not fit but not ready to start. Talks of him spending the second half of the season at Southampton are more where he should head. Roy's said he's firmly in his plans
