Regardless of the truth of the cabbie story, Potter being at Arsenal was a message.
Or by Potter - "I'm interested come and have a chat" Sitting very visibly in a box, when the current manager is under HUGE pressure. No way its not a message.

Yeah could be. Potter is a Villa fan, but no reason his sons couldn't/wouldn't be Arse. Just think that given the situation with Roy, its bad form to go. Especially to be so visible

Agree with all of that, even on Pardew! I would imagine Potter would see us as a very risky, 'make or break' move therefore would understand his reluctance to come. Conversely, I have the impression Cooper may see us as a potentially limited opportunity to restore some prestige to his name. We would see Potter as very risky as well. During his tenure at Brighton, there were constant calls for him to go from Brighton fans, he never finished above Palace in the League. Played pretty football, but no end product, got found out at Chelsea . The best choice is Lopetegui.

I'm no expert on Lopetegui however but he would be preferable to Potter, for me. Potter might be interesting if we were in a more comfortable position with cash to spend but I think a big risk now.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Lopetegui would be my ideal choice too, but he was linked with Real not too long ago, left Wolves due to a lack of funds and seems too high profile to come to us. Brighton were in the CL spots when Potter left, his last game being a 5-2 win over Leicester. How was that not good enough for their fans? He might not be the right fit for us, but maybe his time at Chelsea showed he is just not the right manager for a big club where half the job seems to be about juggling player egos.
