It's Tata to British steel

The Tata furnaces were coal-fired. The UK doesn't produce coal any more, which means they were burning imported coal. Newer furnaces would have hopefully been reliant on home-produced energy.

Had we remained then our steel industry would have been protected, and of course had we voted for Corbyn water, steel and energy would be publicly owned. Whether they would be successful, accountable is another matter but within our control, which we have lost by leaving the EU and having tory governments flogging off our assets to mainly foreign owners to whom the British consumer is well down their list of priorities. The present PM is doing a good job for the very wealthy, and India. The tory ideology is that of a bunch of dodgy short-term cheap skates.

So the climate and global warming doesn’t matter. Do you realise how much co2 will not be released when this shuts down. That’s fantastic news and you should be pleased as punch. Or so we have been told!

The owner of the Port Talbot steelworks has been accused of “gross hypocrisy” as it prepares to open a new blast furnace in India, while citing a cut in carbon emissions for its decision to close two blast furnaces in south Wales, costing thousands of jobs. If they want to supply us and at what cost, similarly China. Nothing whatever to do with climate, imports mean increased CO2, but increasing Tata's global profits. What is the £600+ billions for, will it ever be built? It does look like Tata to British steel.
