I can't claim to be a source of knowledge on African football however even with my stereotyping of a select few West and North African countries only ever being in consideration (Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, CIV, Senegal once, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt) there does seem to have been a fair few unlikely results already:

Nigeria 1-1 Equatorial Guinea
Egypt 2-2 Mozambique
Ghana 1-2 Cape Verde
Tunisia 0-1 Namibia
Algeria 1-1 Angola
Mali 2-0 South Africa
Cameroon 1-1 Guinea

A change in the power dynamics there perhaps? I'm sure I'll become more interested and an expert once again as the tournament progresses to the latter stages! We may seem Jordan back earlier than expected too.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I watched some of the games last time around, mainly involving our players. Maybe watched a couple over the years. Each time I thought the standard wasn't great. Last tournament the pitches and refs were awful. There is often refereeing controversy - which is probably about the biggest entertainment about the whole thing. I find it an incredible hindrance to our season whenever it happens but I guess we can't complain too much if Liverpool lose Salah.

The games all look the same to me whoever is playing .All use the same tactics relying on a star player or two to break the boredom

Oh , hang on .........

Depends, can he play up front/RB/Central Midfield?

Hooray, Ghana are out. Ayew will be back imminently.
God knows why they are out. Anyone care to try and explain a typically over elaborate qualifying system?
Glad to see the back of the African cup. There is far too much football being played.
We are having it rammed down our throats with plans to create loads more tournaments.
Im sure for all the big dogs at the top, rewards are handsome. Unlike for the fans who are savagely stripped of their last few pennies whenever possible.
