agree re Eze, but I didn't notice Lerma having a bad game???

Well, we all see things in our own way.

I think Lerma is unfortunate in that he's having to cope without Doucoure and with an out of form Eze and a novice cm in Richards.

Under those circumstances I think he's doing ok.

I really like Lerma but it got to the point where he couldn’t do anything write and was getting really frustrated with himself.

My word, had we not conceded that penalty in the dying embers of the match and attained a 1-1 draw this would have been viewed as a creditable result and the narrative apropos the future of Mr Hodgson would be a mere footnote.

At one point he had his head in his hands and stopped running after a duff pass. Perhaps the TV cameras followed the ball?

Top league football is such a fine line these days. Notwithstanding the fact that we were playing virtually their reserves, Im sure a draw or win would have manifested a different mental outcome.
But yet again as in recent weeks we fell below the line in the dying embers of the game finding ourselves in such a precarious and depressing position as of today.
Tomorrow will be the same mood outcome subject to result.
If negative I believe we will see changes.

We lost our best player in the summer, who anyway was over the hill due to reckless over use. We were very lucky to keep Olise. So we badly needed a left winger and two more full backs. Instead we get a free midfielder an injured junior and an injured centre back. Oh, and a very expensive goalkeeper. It all beggars belief.

I thought there were some decent performances toward the end of last season without Zaha and it was perhaps time to look at spreading the load. I don't agree with the reckless overuse but once he got the hamstring injury at Newcastle at his age then there was only going to be one direction of travel.

The obvious place to start with the (very good) defensive players we had in the middle and inverted wingers in front was wing / full backs who could actually offer pace and a bit of an overlap with some quality. It was glaring IMO.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Mitchell threaten to deliver late in the game when we're losing but not show the quality needed when asked the question and on the other side nothing on offer at all even when Bissaka was playing as he was a great defender but poor winger.

I didn't like some of Van Aanholt's performances towards the end or his apparent attitude much we're screaming for some similar pace and quality.

I don't have any problem with signing of Henderson or Franca. Holding I don't get at all. But if it was at the expense of the above then I wonder what they're all looking at.
