Maybe some will have a future at the top level but there's not one in there that's world class, over the last 30 years any world class player is usually already professional and known about as a teenager. By the age of 21 they're first team players in one of the top leagues in Europe. I can't think of any top players that aren't playing regularly at 21.

Mostly yeah, but you do get late developers like Wright and Vardy.

He had a few good moments but was somewhat inconsistent with his decision making. I got the impression he's still trying to show us his tricks rather than making the right decision for the benefit of the team.

But not a knock out match at this stage of the competition. We are in a mini league with 3 League 1 and 2 sides with the top two progressing to the knock-out stage.

From what Mark Bright was saying last might during the game, this is the kind of competition we want our lads to feature in (and presumably progress as far as we can in). They will learn far more playing the likes of Wycombe (lost 1-0 to a last minute dubious penalty), Wimbledon and Stevenage than playing in the U21s league.

We put out a strong side and whilst we had more possession than Wimbledon, we didn't use it very well and we seemed to have been intimidated by Wimbledon's performance in the first 20 minutes. Bright was certainly disappointed by our display - indeed, we only started to look threatening in the final 10 minutes of the match.

Bang on, nice post DB.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Kane and Giroud too - so not impossible. I always think that physicality is a big part of it. Some people very big at 15/16/17 - others need a lot of gym work.

Yep, humans aren't all the same and just develop mentally and physically at different rates.

The very highly gifted will always stand out early but some people can still get to high levels over time......but it's certainly true that percent wise those people are exceptions.
