The make up of the bench should be interesting today with players coming back from injury.
I think either Riedewald or Franca will miss out today, probably Franca.
If it was my choice I’d leave out Holding as we already have defensive cover in Richards and Clyne.
It’s a strange one as Franca is one of our more expensive players, so you kind of expect him to be involved, but I don’t think he’s close to regular involvement at present.

Home game against team below us in the table, therefore win is the only acceptable result!

About time we smashed this lot. I do not like Everton or the fans after their behaviour a couple of seasons back.

Let's play a bit of decent football and play them off the park 3-0.

COYP!!

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I'm a little more forgiving in that I work on the basis of not losing to the teams below us and getting 4 or 6 points from the two fixtures against such opponents. With wins against the bottom two away from home plus Wolves and the bonus one against Man U and draws against Forest, Brentford and Fulham, we're on track for a comfortable season.

As for today, we have an awful record against Everton at SP (just 2 wins in the PL). In our last 17 matches against them in the PL (home and away) we've managed a solitary victory and that was when the useless Lampard was in charge.

Recent history is against us. I shall be pleased if we avoid defeat and delighted if we can win.

I was thinking about this in light of my comments regarding Roy's tactics sometimes being too negative, and some saying it is pragmatism given the circumstances. I imagined the games we play against teams placed 13th and below and surmised that 4 points home and away would be a decent return ie 8 x 4 = 32 points. Then take the games with clubs in the middle like us and imagine draws all round 2 x 4 = 8 points. then imagine the top 7 and figure out where the 10 plus points are going to come from to take us to the heralded land of 50 plus points for the season and a top 10 finish.
Clearly we need to win more games, and to win games goals need to be scored. Regarding 0-0 "pragmatic" results against the likes of Fulham and Forest at home - those are opportunities wasted.
I know we have a poor forward line but how often do they get the service, and how often do we offer the opposition to dominate the possession stats by playing a regressive defence orientated game?

Only half hour to wait to find out I know, but is it going to be Eze for Schlupp today or Eze for Hughes. One is going to be left out as I can’t imagine Lerma or Doucoure not playing.

Wow, Doucoure not starting but on the bench. Injured? Annoyed Roy? Head turned by Liverpool attention? Who knows, but he was undroppable and played 90 minutes until recently.

Big mistake to omit Doucoure. And Hodgson knows Ward’s a liability. 0-2, I’m afraid. Calvert -Lewin will score.

Not at all. he came off injured against Burnley and only had one full day's training this week. He was always going to be on the bench given that scenario.
