That's pretty much what I said (see below) is Roy reading my posts - I'm wasted - LOL..!!

COYP

IMHO - Roy’s comments were unnecessarily negative - especially in a media environment..!!

What he should have said is something like “the premier league is tough, especially when you are playing a team at the top the of table and our younger players will learn from today’s experience” - same connotation - but without the negativity..!!

I get he may be frustrated with injuries and lack of investment - but there’s a time and a place to make those feelings known - and the full glare of the media wasn’t either the time or the place..!!

Conversely - this is the same Roy that has consistently ignored/discounted younger talent over his “favourite” under performing elder “more experienced” players - prime example - why was Riedewald in Fridays squad over Ozoh..??

Beyond that he has now got to pick these players up and motivate them…!!

In summary inappropriate comments at the wrong time to the wrong audience - not something you would expect from a Manager of Roy’s experience..!!

Not sure how you come to that conclusion..!!

Pretty much everything I mentioned is in Roy's presser - but just phrased in a different way..!!

Anyway - it was only a tongue in cheek remark, so don't wet yourself over it - well done Roy it takes a big man to admit they were wrong..

Well it can be put to bed now. He made his thoughts public on the night. Now he is man enough to admit he was wrong to have done that , hurting the sensibilities of the players, and as it turns out quite a few fans.
He still only says he believes in the potential of all of our young players , including those that were the subject of his original comments. It looks like he is back in full diplomatic mode.
The way he made his comments became the debate. But maybe it should have been about just how good are even the best of our younger group , and should the club have ended up with three or four on the bench ,against some of the best teams in Europe?

I haven't read all this thread but after my initial shock at Roy's exceedingly out of character remarks I concluded that it was a lot more measured than it might have sounded and a tactic to try and tip JRS over the very narrow threshold from exciting prospect to successful Premier league player- whatever Roy may have subsequently said which to my mind is part of the same narrative. Expressing disappountment is also betraying reasonable expectation. If Roy thinks JRS just needs to deal with a mindset issue to crack it, his form says he's probably right and also that he's good at helping players with that sort of thing. Let's all hope so. Burnley offer a defence much like those many of us thought JRS needed a year in the Championship to practice against.

JRS just needs to put on his shooting boots and let fly more often. He is so nearly there. Split second decision. Listen to Olise and copy. "Got the ball. Shot. Scored." Simple!!

Having watched the whole press conference following the outrage I don't think there was much to see.

Fair play to Roy for apologising but I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he discussed it with SP.

I love the assumption that these boys are delicate little chaps who need an arm round them from nasty old Roy. I'd hazard a guess that they're lairy f***ers with plenty to say who've had smoke blown up their arses by some tinpot agent and other cronies.

Hoping to hear how he called out Hughes today who was terrible defensively all match. Had that been a young player vs Everton would not hear the end of it.

Another silly statement from a Hodgson hater. Hodgson apologised publicly for his outburst re the youngsters after the Spurs game, making it clear he shouldn't have said what he did.
