An eager cat that likes something that moves and is also crunchy is a godsend for larger spiders. encouragement can be given by carefully draining pint glasses - so beer does not get on the carpet - and trapping spiders under the glass ready for the appreciative cat. Sadly, some cats do not show themselves as hunters.

i don't mind most little house-spiders. Even the false widow, if you dont bother them, they will avoid you. but am seriously grossed out by anything of the magnitude of a Tarantula

I don't mind spiders, so long as they don't bother me I'll return the favour. It's anything that flies which gets me (hence my more favourable opinion of spiders). Having developed a nervous disposition watching Palace for decades I flinch at even a housefly getting too close. A spider I can always just stamp on, or hit with a something, that's a more desirable dynamic for me.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I suppose I’m generally not too bothered by spiders, but the ones I’ve had in the house recently are big enough to march off with my TV if no one was home!!
